On May 5th, many people take a bath with sweet flag leaves. Public baths also follow this custom, believed to ward off evil and purify the mind and body.
５月５日には、菖蒲の葉を入れたお風呂に入ります。邪気を払い心身を清めるとされ、銭湯などでも行われる習慣です。
【豆知識】５日の端午の節句は、Boy’s Festivalのほか、Sweet Flag Festivalとも呼ばれます。
