The fishing season for sweetfish begins in June, and heralds the arrival of early summer. Sweetfish spawn their eggs in rivers in the previous fall. Juvenile sweetfish descend rivers to the sea, and then ascend in spring.
初夏の到来を告げるアユ漁は、６月に始まります。秋に川で産卵されたアユの稚魚は海に下り、春に川を上ってきます。
【豆知識】アユは、そのまま ayu とも言います。
